Caring for Your Custom Dentures to Maintain a Confident Smile

Posted .

At Willow Creek Family Dentistry, we are happy to offer custom dentures for our patients in Oxford, Ohio who seek pleasing, comfortable dental solutions for their smiles. Once you have restored your smile with the help of dentures, you will want to take excellent care of them so they continue to work their best for you. Let’s take a look at how to care for your denture appliance!

— You will want to remove your dentures to rinse them after eating. Take the time to wash away food particles and oral debris to maintain proper fit and oral hygiene. Be careful not to drop them when you take them out. Some people have found that it helps to put down a towel to catch them in case they slip, or fill the sink with some water.

— When you clean your dentures, be gentle, you don’t want to damage the material or bend the clasps.

— Once your dentures are clean, clean your mouth next. You can clean your oral cavity with a moistened swatch of gauze or a soft-bristled tooth brush. Make sure to clean your palate, cheeks, and tongue to remove any oral residue.

— Brush your dentures once a day, and soak them overnight with a non-abrasive denture cleaner or warm water (never hot). Your dentures need to stay moist to hold their shape. When placing them back into your mouth, rinse thoroughly to clear away any remaining solution, however.

— Be sure to schedule dental check-ups for professional denture cleanings, along with oral exams to make sure your mouth stays healthy.

We offer both full and partial dentures to best suit your needs and are here to help you enjoy a lifetime of healthy smiles. Please call us at 513-523-7541 if you have any questions or would like to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Eric Dunn.
